Zio Peppe is where tradition meets innovation, serious collides with playful, and gourmet converges with casual. Zio Peppe means “Uncle Joe’ in Italian, and just like a beloved “funcle” – a fun uncle, Zio Peppe will make sure all are welcome, and everybody is having a good time.

Zio Peppe is a collaboration between Chef Devon Sanner and Chef Mat Cable. Our menu is anchored in Italian-American classics of pizza and pasta, but draws heavy influence from the foods and flavor profiles of Tucson and the Sonoran region.

Sanner joins forces with Cable after having cooked under Tucson culinary legend Janos Wilder for the past 15 years, serving as chef at Janos, JBAR, Downtown + Cocktails, and The Carriage House.

Zio Peppe, which means “Uncle Joe” in Italian, is in part a tribute to Cable’s uncle, Joe Sottosanti, who opened Tucson’s first Sicilian pizza place, Tesseo’s Pizzeria, nearly 50 years ago.

Our first dining experience at Zio Peppe after reading about it for the past few years. It was worth the drive - fresh, interesting flavors.

Is this place in new hands?? I ordered my usual Mesclun Salad with grilled salmon. The salad was about 1/2 the size it used to be but not half the price - $12.00 - that’s a lot for a side salad size! And the salmon did not seem grilled, more like fried? And it was $15 for about 4-5 oz. $27.00 pretty expensive. I went home to eat dinner lol. Peace out Zio Peppe.

Tasty Italian food in a low-key atmosphere. Many entrees plus pastas and pizza. No separate menu for lunch.

Our favorite restaurant--the food is THAT good. I tried so hard to order something besides the rotini, but, alas, I couldn't pass it up. Again. And the dark chocolate taco cannoli was to die for.

Great experience, I have been here a couple times with my husband and this time I brought a lovely friend. We shared the Mesclun salad, I had El Rústico Birria pizza and she had the Bucatini Arrabbiata & Meatballs. Lovely time.

On a Monday evening that was relatively quiet our group visited Zion for dinner. Service was good. Our dinners were good but not quite up to the standards we're used to. Overall OK and we'll return.
