The original Reata Restaurant located in the scenic Davis Mountains of west Texas offers the same fine dining and Legendary Texas Cuisine you can find at the Fort Worth location. Alpine, home to Sul Ross State University is near Texas tourist destination Big Bend National Park and the towns of Marathon, Fort Davis and Lajitas. Alpine is also a short drive from Marfa, Texas renowned both for the mysterious Marfa Lights and Donald Judd's Chinati Foundation. Reata, named after the legendary ranch in the James Dean classic movie, "Giant", which was filmed in nearby Marfa, boasts the same high quality Southwestern dining you can find in Fort Worth. This is not food for the faint of heart, from Chicken Fried Steak to Calf Fries or the Pepper Crusted Tenderloin and Cowboy Rib Eye Steak, this is a dining experience not to miss.

                                                                                      Bellissima serata, non ricordiamo il nome della nostra cameriera ma sappiamo che è del Maryland. È stata super gentile e molto cordiale. Io ho preso gli Steak Tacos che erano fenomenali. Eccezionali anche calamari, pecan pie e i Margarita!

                                                                                      We have always enjoyed Reata while visiting Alpine, but last night they were off their game. Our order was either lost or given away, and our waiter never came around. When she did finally come to our table, she asked what we ordered!!! They can do better.

                                                                                      This is a popular joint so I would recommend a reservation.. They accept Open Table reservations. Sergio was very attentive but he had a lot of table tops to cover plus the bar. The calamari were not cooked in hot enough oil so they were greasy with wet dough and under seasoned. We ordered the Rib eye and shared it. The steak was flavorful. The sides were good. We ordered Medium Rare but got medium steaks. We didn’t complain cuz it was tasty.

                                                                                      What a treat! I could live off their quail and grits forever. Wonderful ambiance, excellent service, and hospitable staff. Don’t miss it! Be sure to make advance reservations.

The food was good, but unlike the past service was struggling, and it sucked the ambience out of our visit. Sitting right next to the front door was awful. The menu has returned to a more upscale selection. I would go back.
