Bayou des Familles, a lazy waterway home to many alligators, turtles, egrets and other wildlife, takes center stage as our restaurant’s design provides its diners with a natural picture show. It’s in this unique setting where friends and family unite to experience southern Louisiana charm and culture in its finest form. It’s an experience not to be soon forgotten.

The 15-mile drive from downtown New Orleans will take you through the Jean Lafitte National Park. You’ll arrive at Restaurant des Familles and park under moss-filled century-old oak trees. The restaurant’s Acadian-style architecture provides a glimpse of bayou life that once was.

Our menu features authentic representations of Cajun and Creole favorites such as Crawfish Etouffée, Seafood & Okra Gumbo, Seafood Platters and Turtle Soup. Our signature dish, Alligator Stuffed Mushrooms with Alligator Sauce Piquant, will tempt even the most timid diner.

    This s a great place to experience New Orleans Cajun Cuisine Our food was excellent and service outstanding. Ambience perfect. This was a perfect Valentines dinner!

    I love everything about this restaurant. It’s our favorite place to celebrate special occasions. The food is delicious, the service is warm and friendly, the view of the bayou is soothing and intriguing. The chocolate cake was AWESOME! Our anniversary is coming up so we will be back!

    Restaurant was out of Crab meat The gumbo tasted good but there was little to no seafood on it .. I had 2 shrimp on mine and my friend had 3 shrimp in hers My fish was not fried crispy like the menu read but did have a good taste My husbands turtle soup was pretty much just that .. no turtle meat The ambiance is nice Our server Madison was great !! This was second time I tried the gumbo and both times the same .. I won’t pay that price for gumbo with no seafood in it

    Poor service. Cold food. Seafood so spicy could not eat. That night, 5 out of 6 people in our party got sick.
