From the team that brought the celebrated and award winning Vintage Tavern to Suffolk comes River Stone Chophouse. Featuring steaks and fresh seafood in a beautifully designed traditional craftsman-era architecture. Join us for a cocktail lounge and raw bar, then have dinner by the stone fireplace. River Stone demonstrates a unique commitment to providing special dining experiences to patrons and is excited to be the first Chophouse in Hampton Roads. River Stone features Hereford beef, a raw bar, fresh lobster and an extensive wine list to compliment the cuisine. Centrally located in Northern Suffolk, only minutes from five surrounding cities.
Late night dining is available in the bar as well as a lighter fare menu in the lounge. Happy Hour specials Monday to Friday 3-6pm. Reservations are recommended.

My wife and I enjoy experiencing new restaurants and we have experienced many great restaurants, but then we met Charlie at River Stone Chophouse. It was our first time and we were initially impressed with everything from the building itself, the interior, the lighting, the music, the warm, friendly greeting at the door by the girl who was up front...but Charlie really sealed the deal. Charlie had such a smooth approach and introduction as he introduced us to many different options and the steak board. We felt welcome and comfortable, as if Charlie was an old family member. If all the other staff is on par with Charlie, we will definitely look forward to dining here again. I can honestly say that I have never had such a pleasant experience in any restaurant I have dined at. Thank you.

Shrimp was greasy and the breading just slipped off. The steak was way undercooked and tough. Too expensive for poor food quality.

When entering a restaurant where only two other tables were occupied, it was highly disappointing that a request to be moved to a table of the same size could not be accommodated. The table we requested was then not filled until 5 minutes before our departure. So we sat through a meal looking at the empty table we had requested, and three other identical ones went unoccupied. There is simply no reasonable explanation for this, and it soured our experience.

No exterior light near doorway!!! We mentioned to hostess she just said other people mentioned that also. Okay what? Our reservation was for 6:30pm but we had to wait until nearly 7 to be seated “because the previous group had not left our assigned table” we were then escorted to a half empty dining room. No table? Plenty of tables! Two meals were okay but the sirloins were so gristly you couldn’t cut around it or chew it. The ladies room had no toilet paper! This is a restaurant that cost us $500 for a party of 4? Don’t waste your time or good money!

Overall, this was a nice brunch for a party of 6. Our server was a bit hesitant at times and didn't know a lot of answers to our questions. Nevertheless, he was OK and we got thru it all. We did have a hiccup or two with the steaks ordered, but Overall we will not count them out. I believe this was their first brunch and it showed.

The food and server were excellent. The front of the house seemed disorganized. They went to seat us at a dirty table. We had to wait for them to clean it even though there were multiple tables free and set. The bathrooms were not well kept. Tissue everywhere and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Plus one toilet was overflowing.

My husband and I met some friends for dinner and drinks at the restaurant. Overall, we had a very nice meal. I would recommend it for a date night, good meal, or even a business meeting.
