Saltus River Grill is a unique, and exciting restaurant in historic downtown Beaufort, South Carolina. We were seated promptly at a very small table for two. I could not push back my chair because there was a partial wall behind me….it was too confining. The restaurant is quite dim and the music playing was not unpleasant but odd. Considering this is a somewhat upscale restaurant I wasn’t expecting to be listening to Rick James and other disco favorites at a considerable volume. Our server was very nice and took care of us very well during our visit. The food was quite good and presented well. I had the blackened dorado and my husband had the shrimp and grits. We really enjoyed the arancini appetizer but there was only 3 so I let the husband have seconds. For dessert I had the crème brûlée and it was tasty but no actual evidence of a vanilla bean could be found in it. The carmelized sugar on top was done to perfection. Husband had the chocolate mousse with shortbread cookies for dipping.We loved the mousse and the cookies were divine. This review would have been 5 stars except for the seating, the music and the lighting. I think some easy tweaks are in order!

Seat all diners at right angles to each other at tables for four. We sat two & two across from each other and had to literally scream at each other. Awful. Never coming again with friends. Will just come as a couple & sit at the bar. Never able to get a booth no matter how far in advance we call. Too bad. Food is always good.

We love Saltus! A perfect date night spot. From the amazing fresh sushi and seafood to their cocktails everything is wonderful! We got there early to have a drink at the bar before our reservation and the bartenders are great! Can’t wait to go back!

Overall this was a phenomenal experience! The food was incredible. The ambiance wasn’t as there as I was expecting it to be, but still an overall great time!

Our dinners were superb! Bree's service was friendly and professional. One over-cooked entree was replaced without delay. Noise level made it difficult to converse, though.

Even though it was an extremely busy night, the staff was responsive, patient, and attentive. The new menu items we chose were excellent.

Our dinner was perfect start to finish. We sat on the patio with our pup and were immediately greeted warmly and with a fresh bowl of water. There was a nice outdoor fire, soft lighting. Our server was friendly and on point. The food we ate was all delicious-salad special with Thai chili calamari, lobster bisque, sirloin, crab cake, beet salad, cheesecake and creme brûlée. The sirloin was butter soft, best mashed potatoes my husband has ever eaten and I can say the same about the crème brûlée. It’s a nice date night with beautiful views of the water. The dog friendly patio was a must for us. I highly recommend eating here and we would come back given the chance.
