Selanne Steak Tavern, owned by Anaheim Duck legend Teemu Selanne and located in a quaint, historical home built in 1934, features an upscale casual neighborhood tavern and a traditional steakhouse. In addition to the absolute best steaks in Orange County, the Tavern offers great burgers, small plates, salads and appetizers as well as an extensive world class wine list, great specialty cocktails and craft beers. One of my favorite places. We celebrated a 20 year anniversary and they took such exceptional care of us.

My wife and I celebrated my belated birthday at Selanne Steak Tavern in Laguna Beach on March 15, and it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. We started with the diver scallops, which were perfectly prepared. For our main courses, my wife had the filet mignon, and I enjoyed the Wagyu flat iron steak with wild mushrooms—everything tasted phenomenal. Dessert was the almond and date gateaux, and the staff surprised us with birthday cookies and a candle, making the evening even more special. Our server, Bonnie, provided outstanding service. We mentioned our upcoming relocation, which led to a great conversation about where we had all lived. Before we left, she surprised me with a birthday card with a personal message—a truly thoughtful gesture. We highly recommend Selanne Steak Tavern and wish every restaurant had someone like Bonnie!

Wonderful dinner and environment. We looked for a special place for our last dinner in Laguna Beach on this trip and Selanne’s proved a wonderful choice. I will add that the service was terrific. The kind rarely experienced these days. Can’t wait to return!

Everything was perfect! Beautiful dining room (we were in The Loft), attentive service, yummy cocktails, delicious and perfectly prepared steak, generous shareable sides, and an amazing salad. The music was a tad louder than background music, but it didn’t impact our experience.
