Skates on the Bay is a beautiful and historic waterfront gathering place for fresh seafood and unmatched views of the San Francisco Bay, offering lunch, brunch and dinner dining year-round.     The lunch menu was a little limited in terms of entrees but what we did order was good. Service for two was slow due to several very large parties. The view of the Bay is wonderful. I might suggest more decor to make it updated.

    I had a party of 8 which was challenging getting everyone there at a given time. Unfortunately I had to adjust time 3 times because of those challenges, but we were accommodated well without a problem. I am a Women’s Advocate and Writer who went to Skates to celebrate the release of my book, In My Own Words of which the women participated in sharing their stories of survival. I highly recommend this beautiful venue

    My wife and I visited one of our favorite restaurants for a nice dinner with our 25 year old daughter, and had a great evening. The food and drinks were excellent as was the service. We will be back Skates on the Bay!

    Food great and service pretty good. One diner’s salad (main) took about a half an hour to arrive at the table. Everyone else had been served. The setting is wonderful and our waiter was gracious (other than the one over due meal). Drinks delish - spicy prickly pear margarita was the bomb!!

    We had a large party for a birthday celebration. Skates on the Bay was accommodating as our original guestlist grew from 10 up to 20. Service was a bit slow at getting our entrées but the servers were friendly and professional. Food was very good and portion sizes where more than ample. Everyone enjoyed the celebration. I would recommend Skates on the Bay to anyone looking to enjoy a special dinner or a celebration.

    The only issue we had was in waiting to be seated. We had a reservation at 545 and didn’t get seated until 630. Apparently there was a glitch in their reservation system, as multiple parties we seated about 45 minutes late. That said, once we were seated the food and ambiance were great.

    We encountered an extremely long wait for our table despite having made reservations for 5:15 pm. Upon arrival, we were told that they were a little backed up and the wait would be about 15-20 minutes, which ended up to be over an hour. Apparently, the backup was caused by customers with lunch reservations staying for an extended time that caused delays in the dinner seating. The long wait was experienced by many that had reservations. The restaurant should implement a policy of limiting the amount of time for dining to prevent delays in seating people with reservations or not overbooking tables.
