My husband and I had visited Sobe's Restaurant & Lounge in the past (before Covid). So, we decided to take my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for brunch. Upon walking into the restaurant, I thought the music was too loud. Did not know it was a live band. We had reservations which I made before Easter. We checked in and the hosted seated us at the lounge seating area near the bar. Those tables are not for proper dining. That area was part of the bar area for Happy Hour. We were bringing my 89-year-old mother-in-law with back and leg problems (using a cane) to a low seated area with not enough room for dining. We had to wait for the manager and the host to decide where they can seat us. After being seated 45 minutes later for a restaurant that was really not that busy is crazy. Please use the lounge area for lounging and dining area for dining.

Hostesses had a 4 minute conversation between themselves before acknowledging our presence at the desk. The server brought all our orders, and handed them all to the head-of-the-table guest. Two items were ordered and never appeared. After all the other guests were served we summoned our waiter, who then told us, “the waffle machine is broken.” Another guest asked for her salad (after finishing her entrees) and was told “we’re out of salad.” How about returning to the table and mentioning that waffles weren’t an option? How about after that failure, returning to ask if a substitute for salad would be desired??Food was ok; service abysmal.Might be a great lounge, but definitely not on restaurant level.

Was refused entry to Dine because of a door fee an outside promoter was charging for an event on other side of restaurant. Upon speaking with manager, she was very rude and condescending after I explained that the establishment was a restaurant primarily and a event venue second. Restaurant guest should not be forced to pay for an event they are not attending in order to dine . This is not the same fine dining establishment i remember it being upon opening. Seems they prefer the hip hop crowd and the atmosphere is not for professionals more relax crowd . Do not recommend.

I will start my review with the positives. First and foremost, the food was great, the moxtails and wine was very good. Secondly, the service was amazing, we were sat down quickly, our server checked in often, and the food came out in a very timely manner. Giving context before I give my negatives, when I looked at the restaurant online SoBe seemed like a upscale boujie restaurant, which was the main factor for me choosing this restaurant to celebrate my 30th Bday. First, the music was at times distasteful. SoBe is branded as a carribean/American fusion restaurant, so I expected socal, reggae,but the music was mostly American rap, and hip-hop. At times I personally felt like the song were inappropriate for level of ambiance it portrayes online. Second, as I walked in and sat down, they gave us plastic cups for our water. PLASTIC!!. It really can't be more cost effective in the long run to keep serving plastic cups. The pitcher that the water was served out of also plastic, and the water was tap water. I mean something has to give, if you are going to serve tap water at least serve it in a glass. Thirdly, they did not give us small plated your our appetizers. It was four people, and we ordered two appetizers to share with the whole table, buy no small plates. Lastly, when we were given the check, we were just handed a piece of paper. No check book,no tablet, no nothing, just a small regular receipt paper. I recognize my negatives might be nit picky, but if I knew any of these things before booking a reservation, I would have never considered SoBe as a venue for my 30th birthday celebration. I will come back for the Food and Drinks, hopefully management reads my review and buys some glasses for water, a check book for waiters to hand to customers, and a DJ that can sense the vibe and play more tasteful music. All in all, I did give it 3 stars, because the food and the service, yall did that.
