A progressive perspective of classic Southern favorites. James Beard Award nominee Edward Lee brings his Korean roots and Southern repertoire to a soulful Southern menu.

SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified and passed from generation to generation for centuries. While Succotash between families will share similarities, each family’s recipe is deeply personal and reminiscent of those special suppers that brings kin together. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

We noted going in that it was a cool restaurant. Our food, trout, salmon, and shrimp and grits were just ok, the trout was bland with an unappetizing side, the grits were salty, the salmon was decent. The cornbread appetizer was very dense, needed some salt, the fried pickles were good and we shared a banana pudding which was tasty. Not an amazing dinner, but not awful. The service was just ok.

Supper menu Taste of the South is absolutely fantastic and a bargain at 45USD PP. Happy Hour Bourbon Frost Cocktail for 7USD alongside 2USD oysters was also a hit. Brunch, meh, not so much. The vibe wasn't as thrilling, servers were not as vibrant and it was a disappointment. However, this was the only restaurant in the National Harbor that I would spend time at!

The tasting menu was great to experience different dishes. One thing I wished was having a regular lunch menu instead of the brunch menu. My favorite of the dishes was the biscuits and gravy. In addition tried the collard greens which tasted similar to traditional Korean kimchi stew. The one item I didn’t like was the gochujang cocktail which didn’t have the warm taste of gochujang but it tasted more like old bay. I couldn’t finish the drink bc it wasn’t all that good.

Great experiance. Very nice ambiance, food was great as well. We got the sampler which was a great value, allowed us to try everything and everything was delicious.
