We are happy to welcome dogs into our bar area. The restaurant does not allow dogs except for service dogs. Please make us aware of any dogs you have with you upon booking. Please note, we only serve food in the Bar from 12-6 Monday to Saturdays (excluding Sundays when we exclusively serve food in our restaurant).
On Sundays we exclusively serve our 4 Course Sunday Roast Menu and our set menu is available Monday-Thursday in our restaurant.
The Tartar Frigate is one of the only 18th century flint restaurants in Kent. Widely renowned as one of the best seafood restaurants in Kent, the harbor restaurant boasts stunning panoramic views over Viking Bay. You can take advantage of the extensive menu, which also includes mouth-watering traditional dishes from around the world.
Entertainment: Live Music Wed, Fri and Sundays in the Bar.
Please note - We have no baby changing facilities and no disabled toilets and no disabled access to the top floor restaurant due to the age of building.

Overlooking the sea & beach, with lovely food. There was a really good choice menu & the dishes we had were amazing, big portions (too much for me personally lol) It was my birthday & as always I spend it with my mum. She had the sea bass followed by ice cream & I had the duck & bread n butter pudding with custard for dessert! Was all delicious 😋 would highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were efficient & friendly! Overall a lovely day!

Wonderful service from start to finish. The four course roast lunch is excellent. If you're in the area then make a date to try, you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for your fantastic service and understanding towards my Aunts behavior which is sadly driven by Dementia. Your care and attention was second to none . My Aunt has fantastic memories of good times at the Tartare Frigate with my parents , who sadly are no longer with us .. To Kaminee and the Team thank you … the food was delicious as always x

I’m a regular customer and this visit met the usual high standards. The disappointment was the cheese board, the cheese was served fridge cold, a huge no no

Delicious oysters to start. The skate wing was enormous & full of flavour. The cheese board was enough to share. Friendly helpful staff; so for our first visit, we were thoroughly impressed.
