Taxim, which is located in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, features regionally-inspired Greek dishes paired with an all-Greek wine list. The stunning dining room is fitted with soaring 16-foot ceilings, travertine marble floors, dramatic Byzantine-style lamps and artwork, and the rooftop dining area lined with Greek flowering herbs.

The restaurant was chosen as one of of Chicago's Best New Restaurants in 2009/2010 by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Reader. Additionally, Taxim's housemade yogurt with young favas and lamb confit was selected as one of the Best Bites of 2009 by the Chicago Reader, the house-cured sardines were mentioned in Time Out Chicago's 2009 "100 Best Things We Ate (and drank) This Year" feature, and the wood-grilled octopus was selected as 2010's "Best New Dish" by Chicago magazine. Additionally, chef-owner David Schneider appeared on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" in April 2011 going head-to-head with Iron Chef Cat Cora.

                                                                                                      Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the Greek wine list and recommended special items on the food menu. We assumed she was Greek, but when she heard my husband and our friend speaking German, she spoke Deutsch, and we learned that she is half German American and Italian American. It was an amazing meal and a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays with our friends.

                                                                                                      Food was amazing but too expensive. I know that inflation has affected raw ingredients pricing but my goodness, chicken is not that pricey and fish gyros had little fish in them.

                                                                                                      Despite enjoying the food, service, and ambiance, I was disappointed to find that a 22.7% tip had been automatically added to my bill. I prefer to determine the tip amount myself.

                                                                                                      Food is great and reasonably priced, duck gyro is a must. Menu is very extensive with great offerings, but kinda hard to understand since the names of the dishes are in greek. More of a family kind of restaurant, there were many kids and a bit noisy but not that you couldn’t hear your party. Our server was ok, seemed like she wanted to get us out fast but she explained the menu well. The busboy kept trying to get the plates when we were still trying to eat. But other than that I’d come back to try other dishes

                                                                                                      Incredible Greek food with an amazing staff! Highly recommend. My wife is vegetarian and there are so many delicious items that are unique and not just rule cookie cutter Greek food.

                                                                                                      Our host offered to seat us in a quieter area but my friend circumvented it, so I shouldn’t complain about the noise, but the main dining room was quite noisy. The service, food, and wine were outstanding. Highly recommend.
