The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

    As an electric power-chair user I was a little anxious about seating arrangements, but needn’t have worried, we were taken to a very accessible table in the main restaurant, we were served in an timely and empathic manner and after the sandwiches course and when we were ready the warmed scones were brought to our table which, was a delicious idea. All the staff appear happy in their work and this clearly reflected in the service given and very much looking forward to our next visit,

    A beautifully presented and delicious afternoon tea. The staff were amazing and went to great lengths to accommodate and explain about my grandson's vegan afternoon tea. A lovely experience.

    The service was quick, everything explained, food lovely, presentation and taste. If requiring anything else such as more drink it was easy to attract attention. There seemed to be lots of attentive staff waiting on tables. I would thoroughly recommend this.

    The Assembly House offers a first class service and perfection in their presentation. The lunch menu was lovely and we each chose something differ to suit our tastes. I find the ambience less agreeable in the central area where the tables for 2 are all in a line and offer no privacy. But the tables for 4+ are ideal and quite well spaced around the perimeter. Great choices for vegetarians thank you, and the service is such that nothing is too much trouble.

    Celebrating my Birthday with a voucher from my dear friend, I couldn't have had a better experience. A little card with good wishes for my birthday along with a little piece of cake with a Birthday candle, so sweet, thank you. The food was excellent and beautifully presented, and a decent portion for my hungry husband. We will definitely return.

    I brought my son for breakfast it was his very first time at the assembly rooms and it didn’t disappoint him, he loves fine dinning so I knew he was going to like it. He had eggs Benedict with salmon and said best he’d had, he went on to say the whole experience was by far the best he’ll be coming back that’s for sure

    Always a brilliant time had at the assembly House. The best afternoon tea. The Peter Pan theme was especially good. Staff are always so lovely. The setting is gorgeous. We’ll obviously be back for more afternoon tea treats very soon!
