The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

    We had a lovely time together, celebrating our 60th. The mains were really nice, the Welsh rarebit was a bit rich for my friend, the meat, cheese and fish platter was big enough for 2 😊 Desserts were a bit of a shame, one of us ordered the creme brûlée rice expecting a creme brûlée but it was cold rice, another guest ordered sticky toffee pudding with “lashings of custard” the lashings of custard was just a dribble, when this was questioned with the waitress she just laughed and walked off, the pudding was large and definitely short of custard, this was also cold. My knickerbocker glory was fabulous. The gentleman waiter was really nice and very attentive.

    We booked our afternoon tea having had a voucher for Mother’s Day last year. We didn’t know we were getting a themed afternoon tea but it was amazing. The theme was Peter Pan and the food was gorgeous. I had a dairy free version and it was second to none. I have no idea how they make cream for the scones from lentils but my daughter who had real cream said you couldn’t taste the difference. It was just gorgeous. The ambience of the room was calm and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole experience was perfect. Thank you.

    Afternoon tea - nothing special. Certainly doesn't warrant. £65 for 2 people! To say it has a good markup is an understatement! Service was...well served which is to be expected in any eatery and the atmosphere was pleasant. Only visited as someone had gifted us a voucher. Lots more places to go without paying over the top prices.

    We had a wonderful time. The afternoon tea was amazing freshly made. It was so good we bought some of the food home because we were full. The waiter was very attentive and the man who served the afternoon tea went through all of the goodies on the plates.We were very happy. Thank you.

    Am excellent after tea, which was well presented and quite filling. Service was very good and the response tomanconcern regarding where we were sat was well received and quickly rectified
