The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

    I won an afternoon tea for 2 and it was a real treat. I had the gluten free option and it was just as good as a regular tea. The sausage rolls were the best thing and I will be coming back for more of those. There was a bit of a wait for the meal, but that suited me well as it gave me more time to catch up with my friend ,and added to the anticipation. The atmosphere felt very chilled and relaxed despite it being quite busy. All credit to the staff for that. ( I used to be a waitress and I know how hard it can be ) Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon. Looking forward to my next visit.

    We booked for the nutcracker afternoon tea, having come here for many years with friends, today with just my husband and myself, the food was spot on. However we had managed to eat all of our sandwiches before our pot of tea came out, then had to wait a further 5 mins to catch attention to being some milk to go with the tea. We felt very rushed, the waitress 'Andre's' whilst I was still eating just brought a box over to ask if I wanted to take anything home, which suggested we had finished, when we hadn't. Then whilst I was still drinking my tea she then brought the bill and card machine over, I found it extremely rude. When we had booked it mentioned on the app you could have the table for two hours, after just 55 mins I felt we were being pushed to leave. The food was very nice but I felt the service was not up to usual standards and put a dampener on our day.

    Nice for a special occasion. Nice little touch to have a happy birthday card and little cake with candle to make my daughter feel special on her birthday. Staff were lovely.

    A special treat for Christmas. Lights and tree were lovely and the food was great. We took the top layer of sweet treats home as we were more than full after the delicious scones.

    Perfectly festive afternoon tea, you get a lot more for your money than most afternoon teas I’ve had. Also fantastic that they are child friendly as my kids feel so special going to places like this.

    I had the gluten free option and sandwiches were boring and the scones were warm but had no flavour have had much better so would not recommend.

    Lovely festive afternoon tea again- 3rd year in a row as birthday treat. Lovely food and as usual so plentiful we took box of goodies home to finish off. Very good service and lovely setting. Good value.
