The Carriage House Restaurant at Houmas House and Gardens offers a more casual dining experience in one of the most beautiful Dining Rooms in America. Whether dining at our 40 foot long grand dining room table, or an intimate table for two, our style is Comfortable and Southern. Our menu is a collection of Classic Southern Dishes, with twists to make them our very own.

    Classical Jazz music sets the background for this elegant casual dining experience. We suggest visiting the Turtle Bar before dinner and taking a tour of the Mansion prior to dinner. Guided tours last one hour, and begin on the hour. Ticket price for tour is $24 per person, and cocktails are allowed to be taken on the tour, so visit the Turtle Bar and take a drink along.

                                            This was our third trip to The Carriage House, and as always, the food and service were excellent. I started with the Bisque of Curried Pumpkin, Crawfish and Corn, and finished with the Eggplant Napoleon. Both were as good as I remembered. Can't wait to come back!

                                            Staff was a little clueless about some things on menu. Chicken was fabulous, steak was dry. The atmosphere was beautiful though!

                                            My wife and I stopped in for lunch. We each had the burger we had had these in the past they were great. The server brought the burgers out. Both were raw in the center. Brought this to the attention of the waiter he brought both back to the kitchen. When he returned, it was stated that the kitchen would remake the burgers. When he returned with the food, the burgers were not remade they were taken apart and put back on to continue cooking, at which they still weren't fully cooked. This had must have been an off day for the kitchen. My wife and myself haven't eaten at the Carriage House many times and the food has always been excellent.

                                            Thought this place was going to be a nice date spot but felt very cheap. THE WHOLE PLACE WAS EMPTY. There was a big tv next to us. If we wanted a sports bar or somewhere to watch a tv while we ate we wouldn’t be making reservations somewhere that is supposed to be to be a destination. Food was good!

                                            The pork chop was dry and the redfish recipe has been changed. The risotto was with a tomato base and too salty and the portions were smaller. Disappointing considering how much we’ve loved it in the past.

                                            What a wonderful experience. Everyone should take the time to visit the grounds and dine in this gorgeous space. Especially around a holiday. I hope that we can come back to LA and visit here again.

                                            Loved visiting Houmas House and the Carriage House did not disappoint! Very cool place - the shrimp and grits and crème brûlée were amazing!
