The Depot Restaurant - Seaview features casual fine dining offering a Chef's Table to watch owner Chef Michael Lalewicz perform his magic from a display kitchen. The covered heated deck adds outdoor seating. A northwest and international wine list offers 16 wines by the glass, five microbrews and a hard cider on-tap. This 132 year old train station from the peninsula's Clamshell Railroad feels like a French Bistro especially when seated at the 9 seat counter reminding one of the Orient Express. Northwest Palate claims "Lalewicz has food angels in the kitchen" and food writer Gerry Frank of the Oregonian declares "the Depot is one of the best Dinner Houses in the Northwest"

                                              So I have to say that I am really disappointed that this isn't a positive review of the food. Unfortunately, we never got to try the food - at least not the regular menu. And we didn't go there for the "burger night" ... We had researched this and made reservations in advance as today was our anniversary. We came down to this spot ant the Italian spot in Oceanside. I won't name them in this review for a different restaurant - but you can find them. Bottom line - the place looked cool from the outside and even better from the inside. The tables were close, but not too close. The bar looks like an excellent option. The ambiance was as advertised, and the reason we ended up booking here. BUT, I wish we hadn't and had booked the other - which was not available by the time we had to make other arrangements ... sigh. We walked and were seated and were told things had changed to a "burger night" - which seemed cool until they told us that meant that ONLY burgers were available. WHAT? ... the website doesn't even mention a burger night. We reserved for finer dining - not burgers. They have a great burger truck up the street outside another spot. The hostess was sweet. She said she tried to call everyone earlier in the day but blamed the storm. I don't believe that at all and the embarrassed'ish look she gave confirmed that. I was okay with her saying it tho as it clearly would not be a decision she would have made and she was clearly covering for an owner, chef, and/or boss (likely all of these) who musta decided to phone one in. Doesn't matter really as they can make that decision. Did kinda dampen our otherwise planned anniversary night - but we found another, unaffiliated spot and had a really good time with good food. Not the experience we were looking for, but I'd go back. The decision we control is whether to support them. While it won't make a difference to their business and I'm sure they won't care, we won't support them. Call before you make a special date.

                                              Can't miss at the Depot Restaurant! Make reservations for some of the bed food in the area...every time. We go at least once a year to the WA coast and always make reservations here, rain or shine. Not a lot of tables, but the ambiance is perfect! The staff are great and the food excellent! They know how to do it right!

                                              Wednesday night is BURGER NIGHT at the Depot from about October to May. Burgers are "build your own" you choose the meat patty; (Buffalo, Beef, Wagyu, etc.); and the topping you want. You can also add Fries, Tater Tots. or sweet potato fries to your meal. If you have not experienced the "burger" you need to try it. A wonderful meal. If you can't make it Wednesday evening; the Depot also has a "burger" truck near the "Sandbar" downtown Long Beach open during the day.

                                              We’ve never had a bad meal at the Depot. No matter what we order, this time the Halibut Special, the food is always on-point and exceptional as is the service. Make sure you get reservations because it is always busy and finding a walk-in spot can be rare.

                                              We celebrated a birthday here and it was one of the best we’ve experienced yet, thanks to the great food and extremely kind staff. The lamb rack was perfectly done, and the rice it came with was delicious. We also loved the cocktails, and how cozy and welcoming the space was. No pretentiousness here, just fresh ingredients cooked to showcase their goodness.
