The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s.
Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. The restaurant serves innovative, traditional and contemporary interpretations of American cuisine with some added international accents, prepared under the direction of Executive Chef John Benjamin. Delicious homemade desserts complete the menus, which are revised several times a year. Outdoor patio dining and fireside dining are available in season.
The restaurant offers lunch and dinner daily, as well as a special breakfast/lunch a la carte menu offered on Saturdays from 11 am to 4pm. Sunday 11am to 3 pm.

These include weddings, birthday parties, bridal and baby showers, retirement parties, class reunions, school functions, memorials, and nearly any type of private event. Corporate meeting spaces are also available. All of the private spaces open out to a private deck or patio. The Hunt Room has a rustic decor with a private pub and dance floor, and features a private entrance. The seasonally tented Hunt Patio is also available for social and corporate events; it is surrounded by rolling lawns and flower gardens with a gazebo.

Lots of food choices for Brunch. Good time was had by all at our party, except for the coffee. Food was good, most got burgers and liked them. Our server was great! Would go again if in the area.

We had an amazing time with old friends. Appetizers were great, food was perfect and the pace of the meal was wonderful. We were treated to a fireside table and were able to catch up with friends without feeling rushed. Grain House experience did not disappoint and looking forward to going back soon!

Traveled 30 minutes to visit based on previous reviews. It did not disappoint! Georgia, our server, was AMAZING! There were traditional brunch options in addition to some specials. The cocktail menu is extensive. Their pancakes are the fluffiest I have ever eaten. Their sausage links wore so delicious. I would definitely go back.

Food was good, waitress had too many tables so service was not good. The hostess was horrible, I hope she’s a relative, if not she needs a lot more training. She was having a terrible time setting up a place for a table of 7 and a table of 10. The dining room was empty, what will she do if the restaurant gets busy. No wonder a waiter said the action has been very slow lately. Find somewhere else to spend your money, it’s too expensive for the treatment And the extra percentage for using a credit card is pretty chinsy, raise your prices .50. You’re an upscale restaurant in an affluent neighborhood not a diner on route22.

I meet up with some friends that live an hour away in different directions. The location of The Grain House is just perfect for all of us...just off Route 287 easy access and loads of parking! That being said we enjoy the atmosphere with the cozy fireplace in winter and outside dining in the summer. Food is always excellent....and upscale even if its just lunch. There is always something a little different which certainly adds to the overall enjoyment. Also the fact we can get a glass of wine is a bonus. Wait staff have always been attentive and service great!
