Fine dining awaits you in our intimate dining area. Both indoor & outdoor as well as seating at our premier handcraft bar. Our marble-top bar greets you upon entry, you will find yourself in candle light looking at white linen tables that are positioned on beautiful wood and brick flooring surrounded by bottles of fine Italian wines. The Chef and Owner Samantha Castagnetti brings her city in Northern Italia to you via overnight shipments of imported Italian foods and boast over 40 wines almost all are served by the glass- 14 years and counting.. Come and see what everyone raves about!
Authentic food is an understatement - this is the real thing. Reservations are most welcomed and taken only through OpenTable for parties of 12 or less.

                              Good 👍 food 🍱 and drinks🍹are to be found at this nice staple of New Orleans’ beautiful 😻 “ Viěux Carré “ neighborhood. Relaxing atmosphere, full bar, good location, tasty 🤤 veal and various dishes 🍽️ .

                              This is one of several Mardi Gras day lunches we've had at the Barrel. These folks always take such good care of us – the food is great, the wine is great, and the atmosphere is unparalleled.

                              Server Rhonda was excellent for being as busy as she was. Service was a little slow because of Mardi Gras. Tables were packed in. Food is always great here. So much better not on Mardi Gras, but I still go every year.

                              Always a wonderful experience. Staff is friendly and professional...but...the food...ah ha! Is EXCELLENT! I want to eat at Samantha's table every night!

                              We LOVE LOVE LOVE The Italian Barrel!!! We visit The French Quarter at least once a year. EVERY time, we eat there. There is no better Chef than Chef Samantha!!! Her staff is top notch too. When you go, you must try the Mussels, Lasagna & Chicken Alberto!

                              This restaurant is not recommended if you have gluten issues. No gluten-free bread, no gluten-free pasta. The chef only wants to prepare what she wants to make. No consideration for what YOU want (or need). Waiter told us the chef hasn’t changed the menu in 16 years! My wife asked them to just give her a plain chicken breast with some marinara sauce and the chef refused! This place is chef centered, not patron centered.
