THE MELODY RESTAURANT TAKES ITS NAME FROM THE ONE OF BRITAIN’S MOST BELOVED FILMS OF THE SAME NAME, “MELODY”, WHICH HAS GAINED AN INTERNATIONAL CULT FOLLOWING SINCE ITS RELEASE IN 1971. THE RESTAURANT IS ON THE SITE OF WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY ST PAUL’S SCHOOL, AND WAS CHOSEN AS THE LOCATION FOR “MELODY”, BEING A STORY OF YOUTH AND FIRST LOVE.

                                          The worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. The waiting staff are trying hard, but seem to have never been in a restaurant before. The food on the menu is not what appears on the plate (gravadlax is smoked salmon CURED in dill… not just emptied out the packet). The started advertised as coming with ‘sourdough’ came with crackers. We were told “we don’t have bread” This is a restaurant with NO BREAD! When it did arrive the food was cold and undercooked. They even tried to save on gravy! The whole thing feels like a scam set up to exploit unlucky people who have been gifted vouchers. On the plus side it became funny after a while, and they did take the drinks off the bill (but not before the waiter tipped one on us and then tried to serve the same bottle!) check it out if you want to write a sitcom.

                                          We ordered 3 Courses with a Glass Champagne set menu for only 30.00. Though there's limited choices, the food was good and the amount of food is really large. We 4 people went there on Saturday night. So it was crowded and the service is bit slow. Overall, it's really worth for money!

                                          I have eaten here a couple of times previously and enjoyed it. We enjoyed the meal, although the lamb main course had a bit of a fatty lamb taste. The rest of the meal was fine. The setting is very refined and the service was good.

                                          This incredible restaurant is a well kept secret. They have an impressive collection of whiskies and a whisky menu about 20x larger than a good menu. Most importantly, they have the staff who are very knowledgable about whiskies and give really good advice. Good depth of knowledge

                                          This weas a birthday celebration lunch for both of us. We are quite fussy but the Melody were able to adjust the dishes to suit us. We chose glasses of red wine instead of champagne, asked they me make up the main fish course without beans for one of us and the dessert with just fresh raspberries and cream rather than the full pudding. These were all managed successfully and we had a lovely relaxing meal which was exactly what we wanted. My friend had not been to the Melody before so it in now definitely on our best places to eat list. We did have a box to take some home as we could not eat it all. Very gooid value and such a pleasant venue. Well done.
