One of the oldest pubs in Mayfair, The Punchbowl has been serving fine local ales and exquisite British cuisine to London’s gentry since 1750. Recently reopened after some grand renovations, today each floor offers a delicious dining experience.
British countryside ingredients fill the menu, so tuck into country classics such as dry aged Ribeye steak in the wood-paneled pub or head upstairs to savour more gourmet plates like caramelised spit fire onion tart in their elegant first floor Dining Room. For an evening of true indulgence, the upstairs Club offers private dining with a distinct Victorian feel. A bespoke menu of your chosen plates or canapés can be arranged for special occasions.
There is an extensive wine list available on all floors which features a number of superb clarets by the glass.

                    There are two areas to eat - upstairs which is slightly more formal and downstairs that is more pub booth seating. We were downstairs, a bit noisier and cosier but also had a good atmosphere. Food was up market pub food but excellent food at reasonable prices for the quality. The manager that evening was very friendly and looked after us well. Wine list was decent, and you could have a reasonable range of draught / bottle beers from the bar. No hesitation in recommending this place.

                    Final day before a planned 2-week closure and menu changes as well. My comments, as a result, might not be valid going forward but in general, a good meal In the heart of Mayfair. History of the place tells lots of stories and quite a few best unspoken probably but for today's market, still good value-for-money with, in our case, fantastic service. Very tasty Sunday roast with all the right accompaniments.

                    Punchbowl was nothing like photos online as we were seated downstairs in pub. Would have been okay apart from a few noisy tables but not what we had expected looking at Opentable. The host was excellent and very friendly but we had to ask for set menu. Food was average and would not eat there again but great pub and landlord

                    I have eaten in their dinning room twice before and love the food, the service and the decor of the dining room. This time on a Saturday night I found out that because they were so slow that their dining room was closed so I ate immediately off the main pub - if I wanted to eat at a pub I would have. The waiter was very nice but someone should have contacted me that their dining room would be closed. Very disappointed.

                    We ate in the restaurant on the first floor. The menu offers a good choice at fair prices. Service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our meal. It was warm and though the windows were closed at one stage for a largeish party of Americans so that the air conditioning could cool us down - it did not seem to work ... and we got warmer. The background music would not have been my choice. We'll go again!

                    We came for the third time (in many occasions), and as usual it was a real pleasure to come. It's definitely a pub that I recommend. I hope we'll have the opportunity to come again. See you soon!
