Established in 2001, The Tasting Room restaurant and wine bar has earned a reputation as a modern American force in the Frederick area. Situated in the heart of Frederick's historic district, The Tasting Room captures the energy of Market St. with floor to ceiling windows and a 180˚ panoramic view.                                                       We didn't get to celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday due to unforeseen circumstances, so we were lucky to get a reservation for Saturday night. After 2 days of hospital food, we really needed an awesome dining experience to bring our spirits up. As always, everything was impeccable. The entire staff ensured our meal was perfect. It was as if they could read our minds how important this night out was. The cocktails were delightful. My wife devoured her scallops and curry. My ribeye was perfection. Each bite brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much, Tasting Room staff, especially your manager who seemed to read me like a book. We had a wonderful time!

                                                      Rachel, our server, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The crispy eggplant with lentils and labneh was delicious. My wife who dislikes eggplant loved the flavors. After dinner, I typically desire a port, however the manager recommended two desert wines as a pairing with the Brooklyn Blackout desert. The Banyuls and Santos Vinsanto were recommended. The first sweeter than the second, but the second was a better pairing from both my wife’s and my perspectives. Each brought flavors out of the desert as shared with us. While I do like port, I appreciate someone going outside the norm to try new things. Home run! I will try this again!

                                                      Food was just ok for an upscale place. Lobster chowder was excellent, beef tartare was delicious. Lamb was tough by two. If us. Gnocchi was burnt and bland. Menu needs a reboot. Drinks and wine were amazing. Wine and service was amazing. Dessert and ambiance was great.

                                                      Sat near the front window and every time the door was opened got a very cold breeze across the our table. Had to be moved twice and ended up seated at the bar. Made reservations well in advance and eat at the bar. Will not be going back again.
