Overlooking the beach, with a stunning contemporary alfresco area, The Veranda is Honolulu’s living room of the stars with live music, handcrafted cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The Kahala’s tea menu features pure teas, as well as exclusive blends made from high quality organic, sustainable local ingredients. Tea service also includes Savory Sandwiches and Sweets Treats created by The Kahala’s executive Chef Jonathan Mizukami. We are happy to accommodate pescatarian and vegetarian options with 72 hour’s notice. Unfortunately, due to the style of offerings, we are not able to accommodate vegan, gluten free, or dairy free items. Price is $80 plus service charge and tax (A service charge of 20% will be added to parties of 5 or more). A credit card is required to secure this reservation. Cancellations within 24 hours will be subject to a charge of $35 per person. No shows will be subject to a charge of $80 per person.

I gave 1 star last time and my wife called me out, so higher rating this time but same complaints. Bring back larger menu, pls. Replace the outdated and non-functioning speakers. Really, the one that works sounds like the PA system in a third-world airport. Food quality excellent. Staff are superb. Johnny Valentine is a great performer.

I grew up here and have been going to the veranda for years in it;s various incarnations. This past visit was unfortunately disappointing. The food menu at the Veranda was radically cut down. It’s just a few items now, I guess they’re best selling items. The cocktail and drink menu remains robust but the food was just flat out disappointing. What used to be a four page menu is now just barely a page. The waitress was very apologetic and said everyone was complaining and to make sure to write a review and/or let the hotel know….so hence this review.

We really loved this place prior to current ownership. Mgmt now working hard to make this a NOT ‘to go’ place. Shorter hours, less music and they have just reduced the menu by 50% - obviously want to drive customers to the full service restaurants on property. But people like the Veranda for its open air seating, great staff, over-priced but good food and music. These are all being chipped away. Very disappointing. Also, replace the 25+ yrs old speakers - only one works and the other sounds like the PA system in a 3rd world airport.

Pros 1. Ambience was incredible! We were seated outside for dinner and had clear views of the ocean and the dolphins area! Amazing! 2. Live music after 5:30 pm! 3. Free valet parking 4. Top shelf alcohol is very affordable. Cons 1. We made a reservation at 5 pm. Upon being seated we learned that the kitchen would not be open until 5:30 pm. Very disappointed in learning that and wish that either reservation started at 5:30 pm or a warning issued that the kitchen would not be open until 30 minutes after reservation. 2. Lack of variety in entree or appetizers menu. Only five entrees to choose from involving Pasta, Venison or seafood. Very limited. 3. Salmon tasted very bland as did the potatoes. However, the salmon was cooked to perfection. The dill sauce just barely awakened my senses. 4. No traditional lounge food. Traditional lounge food is usually finger food. (Husband's comment lol)

The venue was perfect for Valentine's Day. Facing the ocean, pool and palm trees and live music on the background was why we return to this restaurant. Special mention to our server, Scott, who was professional and friendly. Mahalo again !

The food was all excellent and our waiter Scott was friendly and available but not hovering, perfect. He made excellent suggestions for substitutions, very helpful!

Gets little warm later when sun sets. Need alternative to block entrance with shade. 3 tables ended up super hot with no alternatives. Too hot.

The perfect spot for a special occasion celebration 🥂. The small bites were executed perfectly and high quality tea and bubbly (my fave Veuve Clicqout). There was live music that added to the atmosphere. Absolutely lovely.

Food was all delicious, but the service was above and beyond. I was offered a wrap to help with the nip in the open air. The server was so patient and kind, and brought us TWO complimentary desserts for our special occasion. Truly a memorable experience.
