The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

    This was my fourth time coming to the walnut room this year and i loved it every time, i have two more reservations coming up and i can’t wait.

    I brought my 4 year old grandson as I use to bring his mother since she was a baby. He absolutely loved it. I also brought my god daughter who has never been there before she is in her late 40’s. She adored it. Also my own daughter who has been coming since infancy. We all loved it. The complimentary photo was a great touch!

    The room and especially the Christmas tree looked beautiful. Service was great and food was very good. One in our party had the short ribs and he said that they were delicious but could have been hotter. Otherwise, it was a lovely time. I was a little disappointed that for a party of four, we only received one souvenir mug.

    We had a cartchuterie board..very good Meatloaf...excellent Mushroom ravioli..excellent Burger...excellent Pricing was affordable. Really enjoyed our lunch

    Merry Christmas lunch tradition at the Walnut Room. Prior to Macy’s it was Marshall Fields. Seemed to have better food quality in previous years. This has been a Holiday season tradition since I was a child when they still decorated the windows for Christmas!! Would have liked to see the 117 years on the souvenir Holiday mug. The 115 year anniversary (two years ago) is printed on the mug, and this year was missing the 117 years, very disappointing to say the least. Won’t purchase them in the future, if they no longer Print the years (117) on the keepsake mug.
