The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

    We had the most wonderful time! Today was the last day with the Holiday decorations. We were able to sit close to the tree and watch all the families come in with little ones so excited to see the tree. Our server Brittany was very attentive. The pot pie is a must! My daughter ordered the roasted vegetables and raved about how delicious it was!

    I visited the Walnut room for the very first time on 1/12. It was an amazing experience. Everyone was so nice and friendly. The food was great and I will definitely come back again.

    Short Ribs were terrific; wish for a little more of the gravy to further enjoy. Chicken Pot Pie a gold star. So enjoyed the space and atmosphere. Children and adults were well behaved in good spirits. Staff was professional.

    The Walnut Room is our favorite holiday tradition! The decorations are beautiful. The servers are friendly and very festive. The food is always fantastic. The right size portions and the prices are beyond reasonable. The Walnut Room is a fantastic way to cap the holiday season.

    Our family had a wonderful dinner at the Walnut Room. The Braised Short Rib was exceptional, as well as the Asiago Crusted Chicken. Our server, Alexander, was professional and attentive throughout our dinner. We will look forward to continuing our Christmas tradition!

    The fire roasted vegetable soup was not worth the $7 per cup that we paid. It wasn't very hot and there weren't enough vegetables and it was mostly broth. The food did not disappoint though. The roast turkey dish was delicious as well as the meatloaf plate and the original pot pie was very good. The desserts were rich and decadent and delicious. We had the carrot cake and the Franco mint cheesecake.

    Our server, photographer, and hostess were exceptional. Very friendly and welcoming. My granddaughter loved the meatloaf!
