Located in the tiny hamlet of Compton in Surrey, The Withies Inn dates from the 16th century, and has been unobtrusively modernised to accommodate a small, first-class restaurant. Attractive low beams and an eclectic interior add to an atmosphere which is relaxed, informal and individual. When weather permits an attractive Pergola allows meals to be eaten out of doors in the delightful garden. Compton itself lies directly on the historic Pilgrims' Way, possessing a church with a rare two-storey chancel, and a picture gallery devoted to the works of Victorian painter G F Watts. The Withies Inn stands in unspoiled country on Compton common, just below the Hog's Back, and on the edge of Loseley Park and it's charming Elizabethan Manor House. Very well-known and mentioned in many discriminating reference books, The Withies Inn is extremely popular. A warm welcome awaits you.

Take the B3000 from the A3 signed to Godalming/Farnham and then Compton.After the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the first left onto the B3000. Still a great pub and the special order beef Wellington was exceptional. Punchy on prices nowadays but still a lovely place to meet and eat!

Great food and service. We requested a special dish for our visit and Hugh kindly provided it. Excellent Rack of lamb!

I was disappointed by the food quality. My food was not cooked throughly and I had to send it back. The waiter was very accommodating and immediately confirmed that the food would be removed from the bill. On the positive side there were plenty of staff to serve.

Excellent meal & service. We were also given the option to sit in the quieter area of the restaurant away from the bar, which was very nice. Overall great value for a 'special event' meal

I was recommended The Withies but it was a bit of a disappointment, mainly in relation to the quality of the food. 50% of our table were disappointed and I really wasn't happy with the tabbouleh - it was slimy, made with the wrong ingredients, had little taste and was wet. I should have said something at the time but the staff, whilst pleasant, didn't seem very approachable and didn't check with us during our meal to see if everything was ok. I'm told that if you order traditional pub food like their pies, it's worth visiting. Given the quality of the meal and that we only had one glass of wine, one pint of beer and then only soft drinks, we felt as though the cost was pretty high. The setting is very pretty and the garden very pleasant and inside has the feel of an old traditional pub. I will go again, but will choose my food more carefully.

My partners fish cakes were delicious but a very small portion for a main course. We had to buy chips to bulk it out. My ham salad was average - I was expecting the salad to be nicely chopped but the tomatoes were just cut into quarters and the lettuce thrown on the plate with big slices on unpeeled cucumber and some avocado which I actually don’t like. Ham was nothing special. My partner had a shandy and I had a small wine - with service bill was nearly £70. We stayed overnight at the Inn - the room was lovely and the breakfast superb so this somewhat made up for it!
