Umi Sake House is a unique Japanese cuisine restaurant in the Belltown area of Seattle featuring the highest quality seafood available in the Northwest, a large izakaya-style tapas menu, and boasting a sake list of over 60 imported Japanese bottles. The interior is multi-faceted, with a black slate tiled traditional dining room, a gorgeous 14 person capacity wooden sushi bar, a semi private "tatami" room which holds 12 people, a larger 25 person private dining room, an enclosed "back patio" casual dining room complete with tropical garden, a black concrete liquor bar with custom sake cocktails and fusion traditional cocktails. The variety of atmospheres allows for a different experience with every visit, and the vastness and quality of the menu does the same. For the budding sake enthusiast or the seasoned veteran, the sake menu at Umi is bottle for bottle the best found anywhere outside of Japan!

                                                                                              We enjoyed our first experience so much that we came back 4 days later. Our 2nd meal was even better than the first! We enjoyed the sushi rolls and sashimi very much. The garden room has a great vibe and although it can get a little loud, it’s worth it. Service is always good. We will be back!

                                                                                              I want to preface this with the fact that I love love raw fish and sushi - I’ve tried so many palace in multiple states so I am pretty picky. overall experience was great - service was amazing and nigiri was SO GOOD. Mostly super disappointed with the specialty rolls. Not only are they high on the price scale but we did not like either roll we got. We ended up sending one back completely but didn’t get a refund for it. Not sure if it was an off day but I would suggest sticking to the basics rather than the speciality rolls. The flavor combinations just honestly were not good & seem not well thought through. It was a mess of combinations with little flavor pay off.

                                                                                              The food was excellent, but our server tricked us into buying a very expensive humongous bottle of sake that we did not need. As we were looking at the size of the bottle and commenting on how large it was, she quickly opened it so we felt like we were stuck and could’t do anything about it. We felt very taken advantage of.

                                                                                              I was so disappointed with the food this time around. I have been coming here for 6 years and this experience was so disappointing. We got 5 rolls and 2 appetizers for our group of 4. All the rules except for one were really mushy and did not seem fresh. The one that was really good. It was only good because of the sauce. The actual quality of the role was pretty bad. It was lovely, but the check-in host was extremely rude. I sent a message letting them know that due to traffic we possibly could be up to 15 minutes late for our reservation, but we ended up only being six minutes late. She informed us that due to other reservations after us we would have a limited time, which is completely understandable. But the way it was communicated seemed as though they had a full house and that we were an extreme inconvenience We spent upwards of $300 at this location to celebrate my best friend getting engaged an hour before the reservation . Every time they visit from out of state, we go out to Umi and this is our last time going. I am so disappointed with the quality of food and hope that there standard returns in the future.
